today. in connecticut the welcome sign is out for the students of sandy hook elementary. tradesmen donated skills to make needed repairs to what used to be chalk hill middle school. >> electricity, lights, bulbs andsa'rh their electricians and also, i know they're doing, changing locks and bringing furniture, i heard from sandy hook school. >> meantime, miles away, the funerals for the victims killed continued. in the morning there were separate services for two first grade victims first a hearse arrive forward a 6-year-old then, his school mate, another 6-year-old. jess yaik's mother. >> show was telling stories and just how she was a good little girl. she used to smile and stuff. she loved horses. >> just a beautiful kid. that didn't deserve to die. we just hope that something happens, that -- so this tragedy will never happen again. >> they will host manyzk5o funerals this week, today is one family leaving another group of mourners waiting to go into the church for next service. some exchanged hugs and they passed one another. >> i have never been in a situation like this. i'm

connecticut. police say they aren't sure if the report was a hoax or not. the caller was reporting someone else had seen a gun. >>> developing news, i-5 closed to all northbound traffic north of reading. in the last hour, we learned, 75 vehicles were involved in the massive pile-up that closed i-5 more than 10 hours a big rig slammed into the median that triggered chain reaction that stretched more than two miles several taken to the hospital, including one who had to be air-lifted to oregon. the chp doesn't know when this road will reopen. shelters are being offered to people who are stuck behind the closure. black ice and bad weather are being blamed for the accident >>> abc news has learned president obama is planning on addressing the school tragedy in newton, connecticut. he will hold a briefing at the white house at 8:45, our time, we -- he will announce vice president biden will spearhead an interagency process to form new policies to respond to the school tragedy. abc news plans on carrying a special report when that happens. stay with the abc7 morning news coming up, we'll go live

america's school security in the wake of the connecticut tragedy. president obama is about to detail a sweeping effort to curb gun violence. katie marzullo is live in the newsroom with the latest. >> reporter: the issues of school safety and gun control came up shortly after friday's shooting. this morning heavy hitters announcing real plans. 7 a.m. senator boxer will talk about her new legislation to strengthen security at schools. it will provide state and local officials with new resources and tools to help secure campuses. at 8:45, president obama will outline steps his administration will take to tighten gun restrictions that could include a ban on assault-style weapons. the president is putting vice president biden in charge of that. in connecticut today, more funerals. teacher victoria soto will be laid to rest, parents will bury more children. parents say they take comfort in the thought their daughter is with her friends. >> i envision all of them holding hands, they are all together up there with the wonderful principal. >> reporter: the investigation into lanza cnn reporting
